Victoria Day Contest Entry Guidelines

These are the official rules for the Homeschooling Across Canada: Victoria Day Contest for Canadian homeschooled children.

  • The contest is open to residents of all Canadian provinces and territories, excluding Quebec.

  • No purchase is necessary to enter the contest.

  • Entrants must be under the age of 18 and have the consent of their parent or legal guardian.

  • Only one entry per child will be accepted.

  • All entries must be the student’s original work.

  • There are two entry categories: essay and comic strip. Within each category, there are three age levels: 0-7, 8 to 13, and 14 to 17.

  • Each entry must cover the topic of Victoria Day Celebrations. Specifically, 1) an explanation of why Victoria Day is celebrated in Canada, and 2) how the entrant celebrates Victoria Day with their family. (Tell us about your family traditions whether it’s attending a planned Community event, planting your vegetable garden or opening your cottage. Tell us what You do with your Family on Victoria Day.)

  • All entries shall be submitted through the official Google entry form by attaching it as a document where designated.

  • Comic strip entries must use the official Comic Strip entry form found on (the landing page) and be the original hand-drawn work of the entrant. They may not be fan art or photographs with captions added.

Judging

Entries will be judged by a panel of six judges. All entries must cover the topic specified above. All judges will be using a common criteria checklist. Each entry group will have somewhat different criteria based on their age group. For example, more detail will be expected from older children.
